Board Member – New Generation Group (Anglo-Omani Society)

Dr Lamya Harub works in the Strategy and Transformation Office in OQ, where she led the policy and process development for the Group. Currently, she is leading the sustainability journey and roadmap for one of OQ’s upstream subsidiary. Previously, she also led the Energy Efficiency workstream and also co-developed the initial Alternative Energy Strategy for OQ. Lamya, however, is distinguished in Oman for being a successful Diplomat where she held the position of First Secretary in the Foreign Ministry. For a decade, she worked directly with the Secretary General on diplomatic, political and economic issues, as well as cultural projects all around the world.  Academically, Lamya earned a Doctorate in the Political Economy of Energy Security from King’s College London (2017), a Master’s degree focusing on Political Philosophy from Columbia University, New York (2008), and a Bachelor’s in International Studies from California State University, Long Beach (2006).

Most notably, Lamya is an active volunteer in several non-profit organisations. She is the co-founder of the Omani Academy for Special Skills, which is the first inclusive leadership and training program developed in Oman that focuses on enabling and developing soft-skills for people with intellectual disabilities to equip them to compete in the job-market. She is also a Board Member in the New Generation Group (Anglo Omani Society), Political Science Advisory Board (Sultan Qaboos University), Glocal Volunteers (an Omani youth non-profit organisation), and Head of Strategic Planning & Partnerships for HeForShe Oman (a UN Women’s initiative).
